Dr Abdul Sattar Al-Taie

Dr Abdul Sattar Al-Taie is Director of Qatar National Research Fund (a member of Qatar Foundation). Prior to this Dr Al-Taie held key positions in Iraq, including: Secretary General of the National Committee for Technology Transfer; Coordinator of the Pan-Industrial Sector Research Committee comprising five ministries; Director of the Food & Dr ugs Projects Implementation Commission and Director of the Industrial Coordination Commission. He was a key player in the reconstruction of the electricity, oil and industrial sectors in Iraq after the end of the first Gulf War 1991.
Dr Al-Taie participated in preparing a number of assessment studies for the World Bank and presented at the MaDr id Donors’ Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq in 2003. He has published more than 20 research papers, and more than 50 technical reports. He holds  a BSc (Hons) & A.C.G.I (1972), MSc & DIC (1974) and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, UK. Dr Sattar has received many awards during his career most recently the Science Medal of Iraq for two consecutive years in 2001 and 2002. He is a member of the editorial board of Science Magazine-Iraq.
