Dr Nabeel is the Deputy Director of Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University, US.
Prior to assuming his position at Qatar Foundation, Dr Nabeel Al-Salem was Dean of the College of Engineering, Qatar University. He joined the department in 1993 as Assistant Professor. In 2000, he was appointed the Chairman of Mechanical Engineering Department and in 2003 he became the Associate Dean of the College of Engineering, before, in 2005, accepting the post of Dean. The successful completion of ABET international accreditation for the college's engineering programs is one of the main achievements attributed to the administration during his period of tenure.
During his academic carrier Dr Nabeel was also promoted to Associate Professor. Dr Al-Salem’s research interests lie in the fields of automatic control and robotics. He has presented and published a number of research papers in these areas at international conferences and in respected journals.
